Maxwell's 1st Birthday Party
Some people say that the 3rd baby gets left out and doesn't get as much attention, but I think the 3rd baby is pretty lucky because they get parents that are confident and wiser. Maxwell's 1st birthday was for Maxwell, not me putting on a big show. It was simply filled with things that he would love including balloons, party blowers, and silly hats. His party wasn't filled with everyone we've met since we've lived in Seattle, it was filled with some special grandparents and our dear friends that we met when he was just a couple months old. Maxwell was happy instead of overwhelmed. It was perfect.
It hasn't really hit me that my baby is going to be 1 tomorrow, but I can feel the tears filling my eyes as I write this.
This amazing little guy has blessed every single person in our family more than we could have ever imagined.
I used pictures from Maxwell's room to decorate.
These two look more and more alike each day.
My mom and grandma Mooney flew from MN and Joe's dad drove up from OR for the party, which was so much fun for everyone.
We had healthy carrot cake cupcakes, and unhealthy chocolate cake for dessert.
Lily, Ella, Maxwell, Naomi, and Mia
Happy Birthday sweet boy!
This was the first time we've done an official smash cake and it was so much fun! I made a healthy carrot cake that didn't have any refined sugars and it was really delicious.
Once Maxwell realized it was edible, he thought it was quite delicious too.
Since everyone cheered when he rubbed it on his head, he decided to treat the frosting like shampoo. : )
A quick hair wash was in order before presents.
He enjoyed the presents but let the big girls do most of the opening.
After presents, we took him downstairs to see his present from us. His own indoor climber/slide, which will be perfect for rainy Seattle winters.
This was such a fun party celebrating our little guy! He is seriously the sweetest, cutest little boy I know! We love you Maxwell!!
