Preschool- Letters C and D

Two weeks ago, we learned all about the letter C.  I didn't get any pictures of our preschool day with Kennedy, which I'm super bummed about since we made the cutest very hungry caterpillar headbands.

We strengthened our fine motor skills by playing with orange play dough.

C is for clouds

Practiced counting clouds (aka. cotton balls)

Naomi glued cotton balls on her Cc sheet.

We did some cloud painting.

Cloud paint: 3/4 c. shaving cream  1/4 c. white glue

The girls love touching the clouds after they dried; it's a really neat texture.

This past week, we learned all about the letter Dd.

The girls did a name match activity.

D is for dog

We talked about dogs and made dog puppets. (Can you tell what color we focused on?)

I've been experiment with different handwriting sheets because even though Mia is very capable of writing the letters, she's not always super interested.  Since she is only 3, it's a battle I'm not going to fight but I'm hoping I can find something that works for her.

After reading, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes we made our own purple purses.

Here's the link to where I got the idea- Preschool Book Club

Naomi was really into this and took her coloring her purse very seriously.  Mia also participated in most of these activities but is currently not into her picture being taken.

Gluing purple diamonds to her Dd sheet.

The girls had so much fun with this dinosaur sensory bin.  I just used old coffee grounds and brown sugar as the base then added some rocks, toy snacks and toy dinosaurs.

While one was playing in the sensory bin, the other was using dinosaur cookie cutters as stamps.

Preschool-Letter B

My letter of the week posts this time around are not going to be as organized as last time.  When three little ones are fingerprinting, cutting, gluing, etc. it's just not easy to take a bunch of pictures.  Plus, we are all having so much fun that by the time I remember to take a picture, we are on to the next thing.

This week we focused on the letter Bb, number 3, and the color yellow.

The girls had so much fun doing water play with yellow dyed water, rubber duckies, and lots toys for pouring, scooping, and measuring.  I simply added yellow food coloring to dye the water- I was a little nervous it would stain their clothes and toys but it was diluted enough that there wasn't a trace of yellow on anything.

B is for Bee (and buzz)

Mia and Kennedy made this adorable Bumble B from No Time For Flashcards.

Naomi loves being a part of the big girls club!  When she gets overwhelmed with the project we are doing, she goes to the reading area and reads books- gosh, I love her.

Naomi putting blue (pom pom) balls on her Bb sheet.

Mia working on finding the upper and lowercase B's.

We put shaving cream, blue food dye, and yellow food dye in a gallon size zip-loc to make the color green.  Mia is really into mixing colors right now so this was super fun for her.

B is for Butterflies

The girls colored bow tie pasta (so great for fine motor strength) and we pretended they were butterflies.

Since we were talking about butterflies, we drove to the other end of town to go to the Butterfly Pavilion. This bee hive was definitely a favorite for the girls; we came back to watch the bees several times.

My little butterflies.

B is for Ballerina

This week we also had a little ballerina playdate. Mia, my little party planner, decorated the house, the girls wore their ballet outfits, and did some ballerina projects.  Somehow, I didn't take one picture!

Here are Mia's ballerina projects from the party.

And, our favorite book about Ballet, Bea at Ballet.  This book is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who are interested in ballet/dancing.

Bubbles and More

Last week, the girls and I went to a program at the library on bubbles.  It was super fun especially when we got to explore the many different things to make bubbles.  Naomi even got to go inside a bubble; I love how brave she is.

Here's a few random pictures from last week...

Naps were a little rough last week so Naomi's been quite tired and needing lots of cuddle time with her blanket.  I had to take a picture when I saw her like this when we were driving.  Then, Mia wanted me to take her picture as well. : )

I opted to rock Naomi for a nap last week so she would get some rest (and because it makes me sad how fast she's growing up and I love rocking her).  She has napped successfully the last couple of days so hopefully that will continue!

Saturday was our 6th wedding anniversary.  Joe surprised me with tickets to The Sound of Music, which was an amazing production.  We had a such a great weekend- I'm excited to see what year 6 has in store!
