Letter of the Week: Qq
We loved all of these books! Naomi (14 m. even sat through both duck books). Quick Duck! is a very simple board book that would be most appropriate for babies and toddlers. Little Quack is about five little ducks that are scared to leave their nest and go in the pond. My girls enjoyed the counting and simplicity of the story.
Q is for Q-tip Painting
Mia used Q-tips to paint her Qq sheet.
Naomi didn't paint the letter Q, but she was too cute not to post. : )
Q is for Quack!
We had a rubber ducky bath time and practiced our best quacking noises!
We gathered all of our rubber ducks from around the house, filled the tub with bubbles, put a Q for Quack and D for Duck on the wall and had lots of fun!
Mia made a cute little duck using her hand prints. Supplies: 2 pieces of construction paper stapled together for the background, 1 small yellow circle, 1 large yellow circle, glue stick, 2 googly eyes, orange beak and yellow and orange paint.
Mia loves any project that uses her hand prints so she was very pleased with the result.
Q is for Quilt
There are a ton of books about quilts! Here are some that we really enjoyed. Cassie's Word Quilt goes through Cassie's day and showcases all of the things that she encounters in her bedroom, neighborhood, school, etc. Mia really enjoyed this book although I don't think she made the quilt connection. The Name Quilt was a little long for Mia so I skipped over a few pages each time we read it. Even though it was long, Mia still enjoyed it and asked to read it a couples times. It is a story of a grandma telling her granddaughter stories of all the family members listed on the special, Name Quilt.
For our quilt Q, I simply made a Q on a piece of construction paper and cut out small squares of fabric (you could also use scrapbook paper).
Mia took this project very seriously (as you can tell). She loved covering all of the black with the fabric.
I think it turned out so cute!
Here some more Quilt printables and activities from Confessions of a Homeschooler. Mia did a couple sheets but wasn't that interested so we didn't spend a lot of time on them.
