pumpkin painting

We had our young married group on Saturday and did some pumpkin painting. I was impressed by the creativity of the couples and this was so much easier than carving! Don't you love the prom style picture we took on the staircase? It brought back memories...LOL!

Marathon = 26.2 miles

It's official, I'm going to run a marathon. After running the half marathon about a month ago, I couldn't imagine running that same distance all over again but I got inspired and just finished week 1 of training. Running a marathon is something I want to do in my lifetime and I couldn't think of a better time but now. Joe is being very supportive and realizes that this is going to take sacrifice and commitment on his end as well. I never want to be someone who asks, "what if..." so come January I can be a part of the 1% of the population who can say, "i've ran a marathon". I'm apologizing ahead of time if this is all I talk about for the next four months. : )

The House

We got a new rug and couch for the family room. We got both pieces at different stores but they look awesome together. Once we paint and get some picture frames for the wall, we'll have one room completed! Go us. LOL

We also got a guest bed and new linens. Eventually I would like to give this room a total vacation/rel
axing vibe. Kind of a nautical theme. I got the bedspread at Homegoods which has tons of fun, inexpensive things. I can't wait to go back and get more stuff. We are trying to buy stuff we NEED right now instead of things we want. It's just not as much fun spending tons of money on things like a lawn mower, fixing the garage door, toilet seats, etc.

Half Marathon

I did it!! I finished my first half marathon! It was a super cold morning but made for perfect running weather. I ran the race with my friend Caitlin (to the L of me) and her three friends. The course was absolutely beautiful as we ran through rural Boulder and past the Boulder Reservoir. I haven't got my exact time but I finished somewhere around 2 hr. and 3min. Even though I'm super sore and tired, I can't wait to do another half marathon! (I don't think a full marathon is in the picture anytime soon.)

Crossing the finish line...that was a great feeling.

The four blondes after the run! The guys were so sweet and bought us flowers! Fun side note... the three other girls are all from South Africa. I think it's pretty neat.

Update

Wow! Life has been going 100mph lately. In the past 3 weeks Joe and I moved into our new home, scrubbed our new house, I started a new school year, I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding, cleaned our new house some more, had guests over and now Joe is gone for a week on a business trip/his friend's wedding! Also, on top of everything I am trying to train for a half-marathon which I just realized is this Sunday. I made it 10 miles last Sunday so I'm hoping my legs carry me the last 3. : ) Here are some pictures that capture some of the fun moments in the last couple of weeks. I am planning on posting pictures of the house as we finish rooms. We just splurged and got a new rug and sectional for our family room!! The couch doesn't get delivered until the 19th but we are sooo excited.

Joe bought us tickets for the traveling version of Cirque Du Soleil. It was very cool how everything took place in these giant tents. We went to the this the day after we moved into our house so it was nice to have a little getaway in the midst of chaos.

Here are a couple of pictures from my friend, Katie's wedding. The fab four from high school were reunited for a weekend of fun and memories.

Joe's friends, Nick and Paul visited us for a few day while on their way to California. We went to the Cave of the Winds in Colorado Springs. The cave was awesome!

Iron Girl 5K

Yesterday I ran a 5K with some girlfriends. It was so much fun especially since it was an all girl event. Our husbands even came and cheered us on. I was very happy with my time- 24.50 and hoping this will be good prep for the half marathon i'm running in September.

Virtual Tour

We had the inspection for the house on Tuesday and it went well. There are definitely a few weekend projects but nothing too major. I just love the neighborhood, yard and everything about the house. I'm sooo exited! Our realtor came across a virtual tour of our future home. Most of the of images on the virtual tour are similar to the pictures I already posted but the 3D helps to get a better feel of the house. We close on August 20 (my mom's birthday)!!

Toms Shoes

Have you seen the AT&T commercials that talk about Toms shoes? I decided to look the business up and fell in love. For every pair of shoes bought, a pair of shoes is given to a child in need. Now that is a business model I love. Go to www.tomsshoes.com to find out more. (Or just click the blog title.) These are my favorite... : )

Just in time for our anniversary

Yah!! The bank accepted our offer on a house we've been waiting on for several months. We still need to have the inspection and other logistical things happen before we close but if everything goes smoothly, we'll be moving in about 4 weeks. : ) We couldn't be happier because out of the homes we've looked at, this one has been our favorite. Here are a few photos that we took before we wrote the offer on the house back in April. Please note that the pictures have the furniture from the current owner. Once we move in, we'll have plenty of extra space for guests so hopefully it will entice you to want to visit.

Church Announcements

This past week our pastor asked Joe and I if we would be in the church announcement video to "advertise" for the young marrieds group we host. The announcements are usually pretty funny so the expectations were high. I don't think we'll get recruited into acting but I thought it was pretty funny. : ) Also, if you want more info on the church we attend, go to: www.denverunited.com

Family Visit

We had so much fun when my family came to visit. I can't believe how big my brothers are getting. Cody is absolutely hilarious and Colton is such a great helper. We kept pretty busy and did some neat things. We went to the: Denver Zoo, Coors Brewery, Garden of the Gods, top of Pikes Peak and Water World. The only thing missing from the vacation was my sister, Karla. Hopefully she can come sometime soon!
