My Littlest Painter

Naomi painted tasted paint for the first time last week.  Mia was painting and Naomi seemed left out so I decided to give it a try, here's the result...

I also have to mention that this little sweetie pie is 9 months old!!  I will have an official 9 month post as soon as my photographer, aka...daddy, is done writing his 100 page paper.  No, I didn't accidentally add an extra 0...crazy huh?!

Letter of the Week: Bb

Mia LOVED all of these books and so did I.  Butterfly Butterfly is a great book if you are working on color recognition.

B is for Balls and Blue

B is for Bee
Mia finger-painted her B before we added the stripes.

Here is Mia's book review in pictures...she hugged the book when I asked her if she liked it. : )

Even though Mia has known majority of the colors for awhile, she still mixes up black and brown.  We spent some time sorting different black and brown things to help her better recognize the two colors. (This is how I starting working on colors with Mia when she was 1.)

B is for Butterfly

I made this one up so I'll give some directions.
1. trace your child's feet
2. let them color or paint them
3. cut the feet and a long oval for the middle of the butterfly
4. glue together (see below)

Mia loved sorting the uppercase and lowercase Bb butterflies.  She was very proud...can you tell?

B is for Bear

We had so much fun reading about bears.  All of these books were also great.  A Splendid Friend, Indeed, is very short and simple, but Mia loves it and since we own the book, it is read quite frequently.

I forgot the ears on our little B bear...oops!

Up next week...the letter Cc.

My Girls

This girl is fearless and careful all at the same time.
 It's a perfect combination.
What she does physically blows me away.

This girl is into figuring out how things work,

and asking the question, "why?"
I can't believe how much she already knows and understands.

A few other things that Naomi discovered this week...
joining mommy in the shower is quite fun,
a little cold,

and very wet.

Climbing stairs without mommy around makes her very nervous,

and proud all at the same time.

Gosh, I love these two.

Letter of the Week: Vv

We learned the letter V this week for Valentines Day!  We read books about love and did lots of crafts that included hearts and making cards for others.  We had a Valentines Party with our moms group and had a a couple friends over for breakfast on Valentines Day morning.

My very mobile baby made it difficult for me to get a decent picture of the books this week.

Sorry, this is a horrible picture.

Mia LOVED all of these books.  The Veterinarian book is quite long for a toddler, I originally got it just for the pictures and to read bits and pieces but Mia was so interested that we ended up reading the whole book several times.  I also got a book about volcanoes, but it was WAY over her head so I didn't photograph it.

But, this little lady really wanted to climb on her mommy's lap and I got a little side tracked.  Don't you wish you could look this cute with messy hair?!

V is for Valentines Day

Mia decorated her Vv sheet for Valentines Day.  I was so impressed that she drew lines to form the V without any prompting!

She also made cards with heart stickers and made hearts using her hand and feet.
We even got some math in this week. Mia and daddy sorted candy hearts.
Then, they counted them and Joe wrote the number.
A super easy and fun activity!

 V is for Vegetables

The directions for this sheet suggested painting with vegetables.  We didn't have vegetables to paint with, so I drew pictures of vegetables that Mia and I colored, cut out and glued on.

We also practiced sorting fruits and vegetables.  We will review this again when we do the letter F for fruit!

Mia making vegetable soup!  Our library has these amazing book kits available that include toys to enhance the story.  This kit came with the book and several vegetables that were in the story.  Use your local library...it is an invaluable resource!

V is for Volcano

Mia wanted a little pink lava. : )

We couldn't talk about volcanoes without doing a little science experiment with baking soda, vinegar and red sprinkles.

I used a baby food jar for this and it was the perfect size.  We started with a tall cup and it required too much of the ingredients to get a big reaction.  Mia loved being able to do this by herself.

Naomi just enjoying this show.

 V is for Veterinarian
We went to the Children's Museum to play in the veterinarian exhibit.

Up next week...the letter B.
