Weekend in Portland

We had an open weekend last weekend so we decided to drive to Portland and stay the night. It was a quick getaway, but we made the most of it and had a lot of fun.

After we arrived, we decided to let the kids burn some energy at The Children's Museum. The last time we were here, the girls were tiny. Click here to see the blog post.

We all had a blast exploring and playing in the museum.

On Sunday, we went to church and brunch with one of Joe's friends and after that walked around the beautiful, International Rose Test Garden.

Mia's favorite rose.

This place was so gorgeous and we all enjoyed just walking around the grounds admiring and smelling the different roses.

This was such a fun, family getaway. Even though it was quick, we made some fun memories.

Whale Watching

We've been whale watching two times in the last two months, which has been so fun! Our tour left from Friday Harbor which is on San Juan Island. To get there we had to drive 1 hr 45 min to the ferry and take an hour ferry to arrive on the island.  Joe arranged for us to go a couple days before my birthday (the end of May) for my birthday present and since we didn't see whales, we got a rain check to go again! We were very successful the second time and saw Orcas from three different pods. I can now check this off my bucket list!

These pictures are from our first whale watching adventure...

Riding on ferries is such a fun way to travel with kids.

This is us walking off the ferry to get to the island.

We had fun exploring the island before our tour started.

We highly recommend San Juan Excursions for whale watching tours. It was such a wonderful, family friendly tour that had so many perks. One perk is that they take wildlife photos on each tour and email them to everyone on board for FREE! The following photos are from San Juan Excursions...

Even though we didn't see whales on our first tour, we did see these adorable dall's porpoises.

Here are the photos from our second adventure....

This is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time so it was so special to see so many orcas. Orcas are amazing creatures and it has been so much fun to learn so much about them on these two tours.

Naomi took about a 2 hr nap while we were on the boat. Luckily, she woke up to see some of the Orcas! Maxwell also took a nap, but it only lasted about 45 min.

The girls each had an opportunity to drive the boat with Captain Pete.

After the tour, we waited for the next ferry to get home because we were exhausted.

To commemorate seeing Orcas, the kiddos each got an orca stuffed animal. The dolphins were from our trip to Cozumel.

Such a fun adventure that started at 6am and ended when we arrived home at 10pm. I love doing life with my crew and love our fun adventures.
