Letter of the week:Ee

A lot of the letter E was consumed by Easter activities but that was the intention.  Besides talking about Easter and eggs, we also talked about Elmer the elephant, which is a super cute story about a colorful elephant.  Mia loved reading it and making her own Elmer.  There are several other Elmer books available as well and Mia enjoyed them all.

 Our favorite Easter books.

E is for Easter eggs

To decorate our Ee sheet this week, I just cut ovals from different pastel scrapbooking paper.  Mia loves gluing right now, so this activity was perfect for her.

This was also a great opportunity to introduce the shape, oval.

Here is a fun counting activity that I created to go with the book, Happy Easter Mouse, Laura Numeroff.  I cut eggs out of scrapbook paper that corresponded with the color sequence in the book.

I then wrote a number (1-6) on construction paper.

Mia had to tell me the number and find the correct number of eggs that matched.

The pages were then stapled into a little book.

Since Easter is now over, you could easily do this same activity with stickers or any shape you choose.

E is for Elmer the elephant

First, start by drawing an elephant on a piece of white paper. Second, cut out small squares of various colors (I used multi-colored tissue paper).
Third, let your child cover Elmer with the squares.
