Last month, Joe finished his 18 month Executive MBA. I'm not going to lie, it was a hard 18 months for me and I know that it was WAY harder for Joe. On top of being the youngest person in the executive program, he also earned all A's. I am so proud of him and know he is going to continue to do amazing things.
To mark the end of the program, there was a hooding ceremony in March. His official graduation is in June.

The Dean, Joe, and Kellie
It was a nice ceremony that really celebrated the families as well as the graduates. It almost made me tear up as the Dean thanked the families for their dedication and sacrifice. This program was definitely a sacrifice for all of us but I know it will help Joe in his career which will be a positive thing for our family. All family members were also welcome to come up with the graduate and place the sash on them.

Joe's cohort...so excited to be done!
Since Joe has been done with school, I feel like we are a "normal" family again. All three of us girls can't get enough of him right now and sometimes I think we can all be a little overwhelming at the dinner table, but it's just because we all love him so much!
This post is all about my Naomi Kate,
who is seriously bursting with cuteness right now. 10 months suits her well.
I honestly didn't want to put her to bed tonight because I just LOVE watching her play.
She has recently learned how to walk while pushing the toy shopping cart,
but isn't quite brave enough to try standing or walking on her own.
She is also starting to say a few words,
"baby" is one of them.
Her top two teeth look like they are on the verge of poking through
and her hair is lightening more and more every day. : (
Before I know it, she will be a toddler and look completely different.
I get emotional thinking about her growing up.
I am in no rush for her to walk, talk and do those things that will cause her to seem older than she already is.
It's funny how that changes the second time around.

The Donut Chef was quite long but Mia really enjoyed the story so I wanted to be sure to include it.

This was my own creation, which you can probably tell because it's kind of funny looking. But, Mia liked it and that's all that matters.
Mia painted the d with green paint. If you don't want to wait for paint to dry, you could just use markers or crayons.
I envisioned the triangles going down the back of the dinosaur, but Mia had a different vision. :)

We only used half of the pages because there were too many for Mia but this was great for reviewing colors.
Dinosaur sensory bin
I used old coffee grounds, rocks, snakes and dinosaurs for a fun dinosaur sensory experience. Warning: if you use coffee grounds, your house will smell like a coffee shop! Luckily, this pan has a cover that I put on when Mia was done playing.

D is for Daddy
We also read books about dads since it was Joe's birthday last week. All of these books are so cute! I highly recommend them all. Daddy Hug is a great choice for a toddler with a short attention span.
Since we talked about the letter d last week (the post is coming soon), I thought it would be a great time to take Mia to the dentist. Thanks to Barney, "Let's Go to the Doctor" Mia was really excited..
The title of this video can be a little misleading since majority of the video is about going to the dentist and the Vet. Anyways, it's Mia's favorite (thanks to Uncle Jake for an awesome Christmas gift) and really helped her feel comfortable about her visit to the dentist. The video actually goes through what to expect at the dentist, which was HUGE for Mia.
Mia was very shy and nervous when the dentist first came in. Instead of having her lay on the exam chair, I held her and she put her head on the dentist's lap. She was so BRAVE and didn't cry, kick, scream or even complain. The dentist brushed her teeth with a toothbrush and applied a little fluoride. I am just so proud of how well Mia is maturing, if I would have done this 6 months ago, it would be been a nightmare.
When we got home, Mia ran to the mirror to look at her sparkly teeth! The dentist told us to keep up the good work since Mia has great looking teeth and no areas of concern.
Top 5 ways to make a first dentist visit successful:
1. Go when you think your child is ready/interested and hopefully before there is a problem.
2. Find a great pediatric dentist.
3. Talk about the dentist beforehand. Last night when I asked Mia how she was feeling about going to the dentist, she told me she was scared. Since, I knew that, I spent a lot of time talking her through the whole process.
4. Don't force your child to participate or make it a negative experience.
5. Be preventive...don't let your little one drink a lot of juice or eat a lot of junk food. The dentist said that fruit snacks or anything that sticks to the teeth are the worst culprits of cavities.
Joe's mom and sister came to visit Thursday-Saturday. Mia had so much fun playing with both of them.

and got to feed birds!
We had a very low key Easter, which was just what we all needed.
After we woke up, the girls opened their Easter baskets and found eggs in the playroom.
After church, we went out for brunch and all four of us left full of pancakes. And the best part...once we got home, we all took a 2.5 hour nap!! Seriously, it was AMAZING!
Easter night after Naomi went to sleep, we decorated our Easter eggs.
They were the cutest eggs I've ever seen.
And, this is the cutest 2 year old I've ever seen.
Oh, and the cutest 10 month old I've ever seen.
