Nursery

Joe set-up the crib and changing table last weekend. He is now hoping for a boy because he thinks I will make him paint if it is a girl. I think it's possible to make the blue and green work for a girl but all of the beautiful, girly nursery sets would totally clash. Don't you love how Joe set up all the books and stuffed animals on the ledge? He is going to be such a good dad! We also just ordered a super comfy reclining nursing chair. : )

FYI... the valence was left behind so we'll change that once we know the decor and the ugly black lamp is only temporary.

18 Weeks

Wow! I can't believe I'm already past 18 weeks. We're almost halfway to meeting our amazing little baby. We have our 20 week ultrasound on June 10 where we get to find out the sex! I will be sharing the news as soon as we find out. The baby is getting so big and so is my belly! I'm wearing mostly maternity clothes now except I am proud to say that my low rise jeans still fit. : )

I'm not going to lie but I wasn't a big fan of the first trimester of pregnancy. I was sooo tired all the time and felt nauseous majority of the day. I feel so much better now! : ) The only symptoms I have are acne (yuck!), a growing belly (fun now that I look pregnant instead of fat) and some food aversions (like not being able to eat the mexican food Joe and I got on our date night last Friday).

Tucson

Joe and I got to go on an all expense paid trip to Tucson because my husband is amazing! Every year Qwest has the Circle of Excellence which is a 4 day getaway to award the employees with best earnings. All of the employees invited make up the top 3% of Qwest. It was an amazing trip full of formal dinners, daily prizes and great entertainment.

All dressed up for dinner.

For entertainment the last night, we got to hear the comedian, Kevin Nealon. He was super funny! It was so much to laugh until our stomachs hurt.

Getting my dance on at the Qwest nightclub!
Spongebob was randomly in the hotel lobby.
Joe and I went on a beautiful walk through the hilly desert.

I had to put these two pictures because you can totally see my baby bump! The tummy is definitely growing.I love this picture Joe took of the cactus in bloom.

Pink or Blue?

On the side of my blog, I put a poll. Take a second to vote if you think we are having a boy or girl! We are planning on finding out at 20 weeks in June but this is fun for the meantime. As of now, I don't have any feelings or intuition. I've had two different dreams and in each dream the baby was a different sex.

Happy Birthday Joe!

Joe's birthday was on April 1st. Luckily I was on spring break so I had the energy to make a nice dinner and a birthday cake. Joe requested a home cooked meal instead of going out since he has been traveling so much. This year, I made a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It was very rich but oh so good! I thought I was clever by putting trick candles on the cake. Hee Hee.

Also, Joe really appreciated all of the cards, gifts and money that he got for his birthday. We have such a generous family. Thank you for making Joe's birthday special even at 27.

Spring Break

My friend, Nicki came to visit for Spring Break! It always means so much when friends and family spend the time, money and energy to come visit. Plus, it's great to get a few days of total quality time. We went to Fort Collins for the New Belgium Brewery Tour. It was a really good tour and Nicki got a lot of free beer! They were all about fun at the brewery and even had a slide in the building! In the picture above, we were in the room where the beer was boiling which is why my face is beat red! We ate at a Jamaican Pasta restaurant for dinner. Nicki was feeling adventurous and ordered cheese tortellini that had a white sauce with bananas and pineapple in it! It was actually really yummy.

baby bump? and other random things

I took this picture 2 days ago on our snow day. Yes, we had the day off because of a random spring storm. It was fabulous. This is either a baby bump, a full stomach or bloating. Baby bump sounds the best so I'm going to go with that! (Don't mind the dirty laundry in the background.)

Joe is finally coming home late tonight! He has been on a business trip in Dominica since Monday. : ( It hasn't been so bad being alone since i've been sooo tired that I go to sleep a couple of hours after I get home from work. Joe was in paradise and I was stuck in a foot of snow!
This week is my spring break! I'm so looking forward to a much needed week off. By this time of the year, teachers are burnt out and NEED the time to clear their heads and get their focus off school. I'm so excited because my friend, Nicki is coming to visit this week. It'll be good to have someone here to keep me busy so I don't sleep the week away.

More baby pictures...

I went to the doctor again for another ultrasound (the last one I'll get before 20 weeks). The baby looks great! Doesn't it look like a little teddy bear? The top picture is upside down because the baby was upside down and I thought it would be easier to identify if the baby was right side up. In the picture you can see the head, chin (hopefully it doesn't stay that pointy! LOL), the little round body, two arms and two legs. During the ultrasound, the nurse zoomed in on one of the hands and we counted five little fingers! So amazing!
The baby is 1 inch long now and was moving around like crazy. (The baby is upside down in the above picture.) Does movement in the womb correlate with how active a baby/child is? If so, our baby will be non-stop! Seeing the little arms and legs kicking up and down made everything seem so real. It's so hard to believe that this little miracle is inside me. God sure made pregnancy amazing!
The above picture is the baby's brain. The nurse thought it must be a girl since the brain seemed to be developing so well! J/K
Maybe it' my imagination but I almost feel like you can see a little face in this picture!

Baby J

Yes...it is official! We are pregnant! I had my first appointment on Friday and according to the nurse, everything looks great! The baby measured exactly 8 weeks on Friday so I am 8 weeks and 5 days today. The due date is October 22. If you are having a hard time understanding the picture... the head is on the left (the black area is where the brain is forming), the little pointy thing is an arm and the rest is the little body.

Joe and I feel so blessed to get pregnant right away. Please keep me and the baby in your prayers. I have been really nauseous and hating food. If you know me, I usually LOVE food. I think all of the sickness means that things are going well but I'd still appreciate prayers.

Puerto Vallarta

Joe surprised me with a trip to Mexico for Valentines Day. It was the most perfect Valentines Day ever! We spent 4 days in an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta. Here is the vacation in pictures...
Here our resort from a boat.
The beautiful beach.
Goofing around before snorkeling.

On the boat before snorkeling.
Joe and I each painted pottery. I chose a vase and Joe chose a fish figurine. It was fun and relaxing to sit and paint.

The pool.

Valentines Day dinner. We ate at a restaurant called, Don Quijote. Do you see Don Quijote in the dessert? All of the ladies were given red roses on Valentines Day. : ) Here's Joe and I showing off our Mexican flair!

Valentine Cookies

My mom sent me some heart cookie cutters for Valentines Day so I decided to make some festive cookies for our young marrieds group.

We finally got chairs to match our dining room table/bench. Here is our dining area off of our kitchen.
While I was making cookies, Joe and Jeremy got all dressed up to go look at and test drive expensive, fast cars. Don't they look soooo cool? : ) Luckily, neither made a purchase that afternoon.
